DEPRESSION THERAPY

WHEN IT'S HARD TO FEEL LIKE YOURSELF.

Depression can make everyday life feel heavier than it used to. You may be tired even after resting, less interested in people or activities you normally enjoy, more irritable than usual, or simply going through the motions without feeling fully present. At Inspired Hope Therapy, we start by listening to what has changed and how it has been affecting your life.

WHAT DEPRESSION CAN FEEL LIKE

EVEN ORDINARY THINGS CAN START TO FEEL HARD.

Depression is not always obvious. Sometimes it looks like sadness or pulling away from other people. Sometimes it looks like getting through work, school, parenting, or daily responsibilities while feeling completely drained underneath it all.

You may notice that things take more effort, decisions feel harder, or you are no longer looking forward to the things that once gave you something to enjoy. You may also become frustrated with yourself because you know what you want to do but cannot seem to find the energy or motivation to do it.

Feeling sad, empty, numb, or disconnected
Feeling tired even when you have had time to rest
Less interest in people, activities, or things you once enjoyed
Feeling more irritable, frustrated, or overwhelmed
Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or staying motivated
Changes in sleep, appetite, relationships, or daily routines
HOW DEPRESSION THERAPY CAN HELP

WE'LL START WITH WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW.

You do not need to know exactly why you feel this way or what needs to change before coming to therapy. We can begin with what has become difficult, look at what may be contributing to it, and work together on changes that feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

Understand What's Been Happening

We can look at changes in mood, thoughts, relationships, responsibilities, stress, and daily life to better understand what may be contributing to how you feel.

Rebuild Some Momentum

When everything feels like too much, we can break things down into manageable steps and work toward routines that support your energy, responsibilities, and emotional well-being.

Reconnect With Your Life

As things begin to feel more manageable, therapy can help you reconnect with relationships, interests, goals, and parts of yourself that may have felt distant for a while.

WHO WE WORK WITH

DEPRESSION CAN LOOK DIFFERENT AT DIFFERENT AGES.

Depression does not always show up as sadness. A child may become more irritable or withdrawn. A teenager may lose interest in school, friendships, or activities. An adult may continue meeting responsibilities while feeling exhausted and disconnected.

Inspired Hope Therapy provides depression therapy for children, teens, and adults in Montclair, NJ, with telehealth available throughout New Jersey. We can also involve parents, partners, or family members when that support would be helpful.

Children Changes in mood, behavior, sleep, school performance, friendships, interest in activities, or connection with family.
Teens Irritability, isolation, low motivation, school stress, loss of interest, difficulty concentrating, and changes in friendships.
Adults Low mood, exhaustion, work stress, withdrawal, relationship concerns, loss of motivation, grief, and difficult life changes.
Couples & Families Support when depression begins affecting communication, responsibilities, connection, intimacy, or everyday life at home.
OUR APPROACH TO DEPRESSION THERAPY

WE'LL WORK TOGETHER AT A PACE THAT FEELS REALISTIC.

Depression therapy is not about telling you to think positively or simply try harder. We want to understand what you have been carrying, what has changed, and what is getting in the way of feeling more like yourself. From there, we can choose strategies that fit your needs, strengths, and everyday life.

Understand Patterns We may explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and experiences so you can recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Build Practical Skills Sessions can include strategies for managing difficult emotions, improving routines, reducing stress, and handling days when motivation or energy is especially low.
Build on What Is Already There We also pay attention to your strengths, relationships, values, past successes, and the things that have helped you through difficult periods before.
